1. All physics majors will be presented with a challenging curriculum. Research and experiential skills are an essential part of our program. We expect our best majors to participate in research projects that result in publications in archival journals.
  2. We strive to prepare students equally for industrial employment and graduate study. Our mission is to provide all students with employable skills regardless of their future goals.
  3. As physics plays a central role in the development of “Weltanschauung” or worldview, our curriculum is designed to instruct students on the benefits and limitations of “thinking like a physicist.”
  4. Non-major students who take our introductory sequence will demonstrate an understanding of physics at a basic level and an awareness of the relevance to their own disciplines.
